School board to consider new classes

The Agua Fria High School District Governing Board will review new course proposals during its regular board meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 2, focused on updating the curriculum for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Proposed courses include expanding culinary and veteranary classes, adding classes on automation  and robotics  and digital media and journalism.

These additions aim to meet student interests and workforce needs that align with  the Agua Fria High School District's academy program, which provides pathways for students to explore various careers. Each academy focuses on specific fields, offering hands-on experiences that align with academic studies. This approach helps students understand the education, training, and credentials needed for their career goals.

Through the academy program, students have opportunities to earn industry-recognized credentials, complete project that demonstrate their learning and skills, participate in internships and develop workplace skills

Each high school in the district hosts specialized academies that allow students to explore career paths. This approach helps students build portfolios for college applications and participate in job fairs relevant to their interests.

If the new courses are approved by the governing board, they will contribute to the academy program, enhancing students' career readiness and aligning with the district's goal of preparing all students for future opportunities. The updated Course Description Book will reflect these changes.
