The eighth annual Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary Foundation golf tournament drew 140 golfers to the Tuscany Falls East Course on May 4, raising funds to support a range of local community programs.
The tournament is the Rotary Foundation's largest fundraiser of the year and has contributed more than $420,000 since 2018 to various West Valley nonprofits and initiatives.
Proceeds from this year’s tournament will support youth leadership training programs, scholarships for high school students, Title I student clothing drives, and contributions to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, among other efforts.
The event began with the traditional golf ball drop, conducted by the Goodyear Fire Department. Six hundred numbered balls were released onto the putting green, with the $3,000 prize awarded to the ball closest to the hole. The winner, a member of the Rotary Club, donated the prize back to the club to fund student leadership training.
A total of 23 hole and green sponsors participated, with Avondale Toyota serving as the main event sponsor. Each player received a golf glove courtesy of the dealership, which also sponsored a hole-in-one contest.
“As a local, independent, family-owned business in the West Valley, we deeply value the significance of community support,” said Kamal Charef, general manager of Avondale Toyota. “That’s why we take great pride in our partnership with the Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek Foundation.”
The Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary Club meets weekly at 7 a.m. Wednesdays in the Palm Room at the Eagles Nest Clubhouse, 3645 Clubhouse Drive. Meetings are open to visitors interested in learning about Rotary’s service and leadership opportunities.
