Registration for the city of Goodyear's Bright Beginnings and Kindergarten Readiness preschool programs opened Monday, Oct. 28, at 6 a.m. exclusively for residents. Nonresidents can register starting Monday, Nov. 4, provided there is availability.
Designed for children aged 3-5, these programs aim to cultivate essential skills in preparation for elementary school. Classes are held at the Goodyear Recreation Campus, and participants must be fully potty trained to enroll.
The preschool curriculum includes a variety of developmental activities focusing on cognitive, emotional, social, creative, and physical learning. Daily schedules feature circle time, story sessions, snacks, playground activities, and worksheets that teach the alphabet, numbers, shapes, and colors.
Each participant will receive daily snacks and all necessary school and art supplies. Parents are advised to bring a water bottle, backpack, and a complete change of clothes for their children.
The Bright Beginnings program runs from Aug. 6 to Dec. 19, with classes held on 9 a.m.-noon Tuesdays and Thursdays. The total cost is $435 for residents and $525 for nonresidents.
The Kindergarten Readiness program spans two semesters: the first from Aug. 5 to Dec. 20, and the second from Jan. 6 to May 16. Classes meet 9 a.m.-noon Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with a fee of $650 for residents and $780 for nonresidents.
“Our goal is to provide the best possible preschool experience for participants, through experienced, trained and dedicated instructors,” stated Richard Ortiz, Goodyear Recreation Coordinator.
For the safety of the children, classroom doors will remain locked during class, with access limited to staff. Parents are encouraged to notify teachers in advance if dropping off late or picking up early.
A Preschool graduation ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 24, celebrating the achievements of all participants.
