Litchfield Park will celebrate the 78th anniversary of the United States Air Force with a Flag Raising Ceremony at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18. The ceremony will take place at City Hall on the front lawn, located at 214 W. Wigwam Boulevard.
The event honors the history of the Air Force and its impact on the West Valley.
The Air Force officially became an independent branch of the military on September 18, 1947. From its humble beginnings in 1907 as a small section of the Army Signal Corps to its growth during World War II, the Air Force has played a pivotal role in modern defense and global security.
The public is invited to join local veterans, dignitaries, and residents for the ceremony, which will include a brief history of the Air Force followed by the raising of the flag.
