Litchfield Park launches a lock box program with Goodyear Fire Department.
Posted
The City of Litchfield Park has partnered with the Goodyear Fire Department to launch a residential lock box program, offering 80 lock boxes to local homeowners on a first-come, first-served basis.
A similar program in Goodyear made 90 lock boxes available to residents earlier this year.
Announced in late June, the voluntary program is intended to assist first responders during emergencies where a resident is unable to open the door. By securing a house key in a lock box accessible to emergency personnel, the program allows responders to enter a home without forced entry, reducing the risk of property damage.
Lock box installations are expected to begin in or around September.
The program does not provide lock-out services. If a homeowner accidentally locks themselves out, they will not be granted access through the lock box system.
Applications for the Litchfield Park program can be picked up at City Hall or downloaded at litchfieldpark.gov. Completed forms must be returned to the front desk at City Hall for address verification. Approved addresses will be forwarded to the Goodyear Fire Department for scheduling and installation.
