Litchfield Park and Avondale magistrate courts to share space

Posted

The magistrate courts for Litchfield Park and Avondale will begin sharing space July 1 in a new partnership designed to improve efficiency, reduce costs and expand access to services.

Under the agreement, court proceedings and administrative services for both cities will be housed at 11325 W. Civic Center Drive in Avondale.

“This is a community-focused partnership that allows us to protect our budget and maintain quality services for our residents,” said City Manager Matthew Williams. “We welcome this innovative opportunity to leverage resources and ensure our community thrives.”

The new arrangement includes extended administrative office hours, with services available 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Staff will assist with records requests, payment of court fines, posting of bonds and issuance of protective orders.

Payment options are also being expanded. In addition to online, in-person and mail payments, a secure drop box will be available outside the Avondale City Court. Complete instructions are available at azcourtpay.com.

Officials said the transition will not affect any previously scheduled court appearances, which will proceed without interruption.

The partnership reflects a growing trend of intergovernmental collaboration in the West Valley as cities seek to maintain service levels while managing costs.
