Liberty school district hosts open house at new elementary school

The Liberty Elementary School District will host an open house for its newest campus, Loretta Zumbro Elementary School, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at 18304 W. Lower Buckeye Road.

The event will feature guided tours of two buildings, along with school registration information. The campus is currently an active construction site, so visitors should expect limited parking and no ADA access. Closed-toed shoes are required, and children must be accompanied by an adult. No food or drinks are allowed inside the buildings.

Set to open in August 2025, the K–8 school will begin by serving pre-kindergarten through sixth grade, with plans to add seventh grade in 2026 and eighth grade in 2027. It will accommodate about 850 students and was created in response to enrollment growth in the district.

“I will work to ensure that Loretta Zumbro Elementary School will support the academic and social needs of our students,” said Principal Bruce Nieminski. “We are so excited about our inaugural year for PreK–6 students beginning this coming August."

The 73,512-square-foot school is being built on a 16.25-acre site annexed by the Goodyear City Council last September. Programs will include agriculture, performing arts, dual language, leadership, career preparation, International Baccalaureate, and STEAM.
