Goodyear puts on multi-sport program for youth

Posted

The Goodyear Recreation Campus will host a youth Beginners Edge Sports Training program from Saturday, Jan. 18 to March 1. The B.E.S.T. program is a 4-Sport Multi-Sport program, offering children the chance to develop skills in soccer, baseball or softball, basketball, and track and field.

The City of Goodyear says the program will teach participants the fundamentals of each sport, including kicking and controlling a soccer ball, hitting, catching, throwing, and running the bases in baseball/softball, and shooting, passing, and dribbling in basketball. Track and field activities will also be part of the curriculum.

Classes will be held on Saturdays at the Goodyear Recreation Campus, 420 S. Estrella Parkway.

Children ages 2-4 will meet from 10:40 to 11:25 a.m., while children ages 5-8 will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. All sessions will take place outdoors at Ramada 9.

Participants should bring an age-appropriate soccer ball for the first week. Later in the program, a hitting tee, bat, whiffle balls, and a basketball will be required.

The program fee ranges from $125 to $150 and Goodyear residents with multiple children are offered discount codes at checkout.

Space is limited, and registration is open.
