Goodyear opens community grant applications for nonprofits

Posted

The city of Goodyear is now accepting applications for its annual Community Funding Program, offering nonprofit organizations the chance to apply for grants supporting human and social services that benefit local residents.

A total of $214,400 is expected to be available through the FY2026 budget. In previous years, grant awards have ranged from $1,500 to $30,000.

Eligible applicants must provide services that are not duplicated by the city or other providers and must be able to demonstrate how their programs serve Goodyear residents. Organizations will need to submit detailed documentation, including a program-specific budget, a list of board members, recent financial reports, and data on service access and community impact.

City staff will review submissions for eligibility and completeness. A subcommittee of three City Council members will then evaluate the qualified applications and make funding recommendations. Final decisions will be made during a regular council meeting, with funds expected to be distributed in late July or early August.

Special guidelines apply to faith-based organizations. While they may apply and receive funding, any inherently religious activities—such as worship or proselytizing—must be clearly separated from the city-funded services in both time and location. Funded organizations also may not require participation in religious activities as a condition of receiving services.

Applications are due by Sunday, May 11, and can be submitted online at goodyearaz.gov/communityfunding.
