The Foothills Community Park Pump Track will reopen 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8 at after undergoing a major rebuild, marking the completion of the fourth major upgrade to the track.
The city-approved project was led by volunteers.
Construction began with tearing down the park and preparing the site before rebuilding it from scratch. Work continues this week with the finalization of track features. The park remains closed for construction as volunteers and crews are working on both sides of the track.
The Foothills Community Park Pump Track first opened in 2015. It was built over five months with the help of 100 volunteers who donated about 2,500 hours of labor, in addition to 200 staff hours.
The track, located on a 100-foot by 300-foot space, features a looping system of dirt berms and rollers designed for bicycling. Riders use a pumping motion to navigate the track without pedaling. The track is used for non-motorized bicycles only.
