Goodyear City Council appoints Campbell as vice mayor

Posted

At the first Goodyear City Council meeting of 2025, Councilmember Wally Campbell was appointed as the city’s vice mayor.

This year marks her 14th year on the council. She joined in 2011 to complete the term of another council member and was elected in 2013, later re-elected in 2017 and 2022.

"I am honored to serve our city in this position," stated Campbell. "I look forward to the growth our city will continue to experience and working through any challenges that we face this coming year."

Campbell has been recognized for her leadership and community service. In 2024, she received the West Valley Woman Networking Association Woman of the Year award, and in 2022, she was named Outstanding Elected Official by the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to her work on council, Campbell is involved in several community organizations. She is the founding president of the Friends of the Library-Goodyear Branch and has chaired the PebbleCreek Home and Garden Tour for 16 years. The event raises funds for the Goodyear Police Department’s annual Shop with a Cop program and the city’s Fill-A-Need program.

Campbell also serves on several boards and committees at the local, state, and national levels, including the Southwest Valley Business and Education Advisory Committee, the All Faith Community Services Board of Directors, and the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce Board. She is also involved with the Historic Litchfield Station Foundation, the West Valley Human Services Alliance, and the Hope Community Services Board of Directors.

At the Maricopa Association of Governments, Campbell is the immediate past chair of the Human Services and Community Initiatives committees and serves on the Public Safety and Military Affairs Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee. She was recently appointed to the First Tier Suburbs Council and the Valley Metro RPTA Board of Directors.

Before moving to Arizona in 2000, Campbell worked for 21 years as staff to the leadership of the California State Legislature. She is a graduate of Sierra College.
