Abrazo West Campus held a groundbreaking ceremony Aug. 13 for its new inpatient rehabilitation hospital.
Rehabilitation services include recovery support after traumatic injuries, cardiovascular surgery, stroke and advanced spine care and other services provided at Abrazo West.
The new facility will offer a range of rehabilitation services, including physical and occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, physiatry, internal medicine as well as surgical and medical subspecialty consultation services.
“By having inpatient rehabilitation services on our campus that is supported by physicians on the same medical team, we are able to follow our patients’ care from acute to rehabilitation and their transition back into the community," said Hans Driessnack, Abrazo West CEO, in press release.
The 24-bed hospital will be in the two-story Abrazo Litchfield Medical Building under construction at 1375 N. Litchfield Road in Goodyear, which is connected to the Abrazo West Campus via an existing pedestrian footpath.
“We are excited to be able to follow our patients’ rehabilitation progress in a facility that is close to the hospital and in the community where they live,” said Dr. Sushant Kale, an interventional neurologist and director of Stroke and Interventional Neurology for Abrazo West Campus. “This model ensures our high-acuity patients receive the full complement of coordinated care as they move into the post-acute stage of their recovery.”
The new inpatient and rehabilitation hospital will bring an additional 46 full-time jobs to the area. The building is scheduled to be complete with occupancy expected in fall 2025.
