Estrella residents to vote on parking, roadway regulations

Posted

Residents of Estrella will decide whether their homeowners associations retain the authority to regulate parking and enforce roadway rules within the community.

A vote opens today and will run until a special membership meeting on April 21.

The Estrella Community Association and the Villages Community Association currently oversee public roads in accordance with Arizona law. Under existing regulations, on-street parking is prohibited between midnight and 5 a.m., and inoperable vehicles, commercial vehicles, including semi-trucks, and recreational vehicles such as boats and RVs cannot be parked or stored on the streets.

If the measure fails, the city of Goodyear would assume responsibility for enforcing parking regulations in all ungated neighborhoods. This could allow for the presence of disabled vehicles, RVs and commercial trucks on neighborhood streets unless the city enacts and enforces its own restrictions.

Estrella is a large master-planned community in Goodyear, known for its scenic mountain views, extensive hiking and biking trails, and amenities like the Starpointe and Presidio residents clubs.

The vote does not impact the CantaMia community, whose residents will not participate in the decision.

A special membership meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, April 21 at Starpointe Residents Club, 17665 W. Elliot Road in Goodyear.

If a majority of residents vote for it, the associations will retain their authority to enforce existing parking rules.
