Driscoll: Quacy Smith is a better choice for Arizona Congressional District 9

Posted

Arizona Congressional District 9 is one of the largest in the nation. It stretches from the West Valley to the California state line and from I-8 to the Utah state line.

Despite its size, CD 9’s population is widespread and concentrated in a few densely populated areas, including Goodyear, Surprise, Buckeye, Litchfield Park, Wickenburg, Yuma, Lake Havasu, Bullhead City and Kingman. It is vital that we are represented in Congress by a candidate who is competent and knowledgeable about the needs of the west side of our state.

For the past four years, CD 9 has been represented by Paul Gosar (R), who ran unopposed in 2020. Rep. Gosar’s term in Congress has been marked by his extremist and undemocratic views. Western Arizona deserves better.

This election, the residents of CD 9 have a better choice. Quacy Smith is running as a Democrat for the seat.

Quacy is a former Marine, former police officer, a lawyer and a preacher. He is a native of Blythe in eastern Riverside County, California, just over the border from Arizona.

He lives in our district. He is a compassionate, passionate and committed candidate who will represent the needs of CD9 in Congress with honesty and concern. He is an experienced and dynamic speaker who also listens and takes the input of others.

If you care about the economy, climate change, the environment, immigration and women’s rights, as well as local issues such as water, affordable housing, education, the border and population growth, Quacy Smith is your ideal choice. Quacy supports all the above issues and has plans to stand up for them in Congress.

It’s time for those of us who live in the western part of the state to demand the representation we deserve in Washington. Quacy Smith is the candidate we deserve.
