City of Goodyear hosts Heart Walk

The 2024 West Valley Heart Walk will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Goodyear Civic Square. This annual event, organized by the American Heart Association, aims to raise funds and awareness for heart disease and stroke prevention, as well as to support research and community programs.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. with registration and other activities, followed by the walk at 10 a.m.

Participants are encouraged to gather at Goodyear Civic Square, located at 1900 N Civic Square to join the movement in the fight against cardiovascular disease. The goal for this year’s event is to raise $500,000, with just under $300,000 already raised.

All funds will contribute to the American Heart Association’s efforts to support medical research, fund public health programs, and improve treatment options for heart disease and stroke patients. The funds raised through the West Valley Heart Walk will also support education efforts aimed at helping the public reduce the risk of heart disease and improve overall health.

Participants can register individually or as part of a team, and are encouraged to set personal fundraising goals. Funds raised will support research and initiatives that help prevent and treat heart disease and stroke, as well as programs that provide critical health information to the public.

The Heart Walk welcomes survivors of heart disease and stroke, as well as their caregivers, to share their stories and connect with others impacted by these conditions. Survivors will be recognized during the event, and those attending are encouraged to wear commemorative red or white caps to celebrate their resilience.

Visit www2.heart.org for more information on how to register, donate, or participate.
