Canyon Trails Towne Center in Goodyear has added more than a dozen new retailers and restaurants as part of its latest expansion, continuing the rapid retail growth in the West Valley.
The mixed-use center, located near Cotton Lane and Yuma Road along Loop 303, recently completed construction on several new buildings, bringing the total number of businesses at the site to 55. The project is owned by the Santa Cruz Seaside Company, redeveloped by Scottsdale Development Partners, and managed by Vestar.
“Our team has worked hard to create what has become a trophy project for the City of Goodyear and the West Valley. We’ve been fortunate to combine alternative uses to create a truly mixed-use environment," said David Malin, president of Scottsdale Development Partners.
Newly opened or soon-to-open tenants include:
Retailers: Burlington, Ulta Beauty, Rack Room Shoes, O’Reilly Auto Parts, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, Cox Communications, AT&T, and MVB Title & Registration
Restaurants and food services: Ono Hawaiian BBQ, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Baskin-Robbins, Angry Chickz, and Hello Sugar
The center, which has been fully leased for the past two years, now totals more than 490,000 square feet of retail space. Permits have also been approved for an additional 15,000-square-foot building, with construction expected to take eight months.
A 284-unit apartment complex, developed by Embrey Partners, was recently completed on the northwest corner of the site. Developers say around 65% of the units are currently leased.
The team behind the center is also exploring the addition of a hotel. Current zoning allows for a limited-service or extended-stay property, and discussions with potential operators are underway.
“The economic boom in the West Valley has been like a tidal wave these past 4 to 5 years, a welcome sight after enduring many years of hard times after the recession in 2008,” said Malin.
Malin said sales and foot traffic at the center continue to exceed expectations, driven in part by continued economic and population growth in the West Valley.
