Goodyear wins national economic development awards

Posted

The City of Goodyear announced it has been recognized with two national awards for its efforts to develop and promote its new downtown district.

The International Economic Development Council awarded Goodyear a Silver Award for its GSQ marketing campaign and a Bronze Award for GSQ itself, the city’s emerging downtown core.

The IEDC Excellence in Economic Development Awards highlight organizations and initiatives that make a lasting impact on communities, regions and nations. With more than 4,500 members, IEDC is the world’s largest membership organization for economic developers.

City officials said the awards reflect the creativity, vision and teamwork behind GSQ, a planned mixed-use district designed as a hub for residents, businesses and visitors.

“These awards recognize the progress we’re making in creating a vibrant downtown that will serve Goodyear for years to come,” the city said in its announcement.

Goodyear is among dozens of cities across the country honored by IEDC each year for programs that create jobs, enhance wealth and strengthen local economies.
