The Agua Fria Union High School District has opened its open enrollment applications for the 2025-26 school year providing families the opportunity to apply for high schools outside of their designated attendance zones or for students living outside the district to attend schools within the district.
Students registering for their zoned schools are not required to submit an open enrollment application.
The district’s open enrollment policy allows students to apply for schools outside their designated boundary. Priority will be given to certain groups, including sibling preference, allowing families to keep children in the same school, and children of district staff members.
The district is considering how open enrollment will align with specialized academies and programs at various schools.
Mark Yslas, AFUHSD Superintendent, said the district remains committed to honoring school choice and addressing enrollment needs on a case-by-case basis.
The district stated if recent boundary changes impact a current student, they will be allowed to remain at their current school, even if they live within a newly drawn zone. This policy extends to siblings of current students, who will also be permitted to attend the same school. Transportation services will be provided for these "grandfathered" students.
“I see these boundaries as more fluid than they’ve ever been,” said governing board member Tray Terry. “If you’re in our district, our entire district is available to you.”
