Three winners emerged at the recent West Valley Country Music Association’s 6th Annual Songwriting Contest.
Songwriters were allowed to enter up to three songs, and a panel of music professionals judged the top 15 songs on originality, lyric content, music composition, and marketability.
Out of the 42 entries submitted by Arizona songwriters, Odie Piker captured first place.
Brent Rasmussen took second place, and Alan Nordquist placed third.
The top 15 performed their original winning songs in the Glendale Library auditorium. The top three received cash prizes, award plaques, and a one-year membership of the Arizona Songwriters Association.
