First pot dispensary in Surprise is one step closer

Planners approve permit for Sunday Goods on Bell

The city of Surprise appears ready to rejoin the marijuana dispensary game after six years without one.

The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5 to 1 on Feb. 1 to approve a use-only conditional use permit for a dual licensee marijuana facility use located near the northwest corner of Bell and Dysart roads.

Sunday Goods, which bills itself as a premium provider of marijuana goods, is the prospective tenant, which would give Surprise its first dispensary since All Green’s moved out of the city in 2018 for Sun City. It would also allow the city to collect lucrative tax money like neighbors El Mirage, Youngtown and Sun City have been doing for years.
