Surprise bringing back outdoor sketching tours as weather cools

The city of Surprise invited residents and visitors to explore public art and get creative during a series of free outdoor art sketching tours offered monthly from October through April.

Led by teaching artist Rae Wilson, the tours alternate between two locations: Surprise City Hall and Surprise Community Park. Participants will explore public art at each site while creating their own sketches and taking a closer look at the art and creativity found throughout the community.

The tours are designed for all ages and skill levels. No previous drawing experience is needed, and sketchbooks and pencils will be provided. The relaxed, judgment-free format gives participants an opportunity to slow down, observe their surroundings and experience Surprise’s public art in a different way.
