A Sun City Fire and Medical Department mechanic has received honorable mention for Emergency Vehicle Technician of the year by Firehouse Magazine.
Izacc Ramos, who is nearing his fifth year with the department, is the first and only internal mechanic the Sun City Fire and Medical Department has ever had.
Before Ramos got to Sun City, the department would send all of their vehicles to other mechanics, leading to them being out of commission for weeks or months on end, according to Resource Chief Tony Van Roekel. Now, with Ramos on the team, repairs are done significantly quicker.
