Residents can participate in Glendale Police Department’s annual review

Posted

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will be conducting an annual review of the Glendale Police Department beginning on Aug. 4.

This examination will include an assessment of the department’s policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services.

This assessment is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, a prized recognition of professional excellence in the field of law enforcement. The goal of the assessment is to demonstrate that GPD is in compliance with nationally accepted professional standards established by CALEA.

The Glendale Police Department was first accredited in 2000; the department’s accredited status was reaffirmed in the years 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2018 and 2022.

As part of the assessment, community members and agency employees are invited to offer comments in a public portal. Anyone who wishes to participate can log into the portal beginning from Thursday, June 15 through Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Anyone who cannot participate in the public portal may write to the assessors. Letters may be addressed to: Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc, 10302 Eaton Place, Suite 100, Fairfax, Virginia 22030-2201.

Call 623-930-3039, or additional information on the process is available at calea.org.
