Crime rates in Glendale on the rise over last year

Numbers show categories that are increasing, others decreasing

Crime rates in the city of Glendale are up from a year ago.

That’s the statistical reality Glendale Police Chief Chris Briggs shared during Tuesday’s city budget workshop.

Part 1 offenses within Uniform Crime Reporting include homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft, among others. The number of Part 1 crimes increased in the city in calendar year 2022 to 9,990 from 8,957 in 2021.
