El Mirage, federal authorities arrest several people in drug, weapons bust

Federal and El Mirage authorities served multiple search warrants within the city, resulting in several arrests.
Around 5 a.m. Thursday, the El Mirage Police Department assisted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with a detail along Alto Street, between Grand Avenue and Thunderbird Road.
Officials served three search warrants in the city. El Mirage police said all of them were high-risk entries, and multiple weapons and drugs were recovered. Authorities arrested several people.
The bust was in response to a long investigation and from residents sharing intelligence with authorities to “rid El Mirage of the criminal element,” Chief Paul Marzocca stated on social media.
“We wanted to share this information due to method of entry and people thinking they heard gunshots which was not the case,” he stated. “As we move forward we will be a proactive police agency who refuses to allow criminals to sell drugs to our youth, break into people’s property and cause mayhem in our city.”
Police encourage residents to trust their gut and report any suspicious activity to authorities.
“To the criminals who prey on our citizens, we are coming for you!” Mr. Marzocca stated.
The Daily News-Sun reached out to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for more information. A public information officer said the arrests were made without incident for alleged violations of federal firearms and narcotics laws.
"I was told that those individuals that were arrested on the enforcement actions yesterday will receive their initial appearance on Monday as the Marshals are attending the funeral in Tucson," Thomas Mangan, PIO for the ATF, stated Friday.
"There was an individual that was transported by EMS to a hospital complaining of chest pains," he continued when asked about any injuries. "He was released by medical and taken into custody where he remains."

If that wasn't enough, El Mirage police on Friday stated a tip in the afternoon Thursday led officers to learn of drugs being manufactured from a residence in the city.
The execution of a search warrant resulted in the collection of over 40 pounds of marijuana.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on marijuana charges, weapons offense and child endangerment charges.
Police didn't identify the suspect on social media.
