Dec. 21 marked the national Homeless Person’s Memorial Day, and also marked over 1,000 deaths this year alone for the homeless in Maricopa County. That number means more than double the number of people experiencing homelessness have died 2022 compared with 2021, according to a statement form the Central Arizona Shelter Services. Last December, CASS reported approximately 500 individuals had died on the streets.
