Phoenix bands can battle for a spot at DUSK Music Festival

Oct. 4 competition at Rebel Lounge sends winner to Tucson festival

Valley bands and artists have a shot at playing one of Arizona’s larger fall music festivals through the DUSK Battle of the Bands, set for Oct. 4 at The Rebel Lounge, 2303 E. Indian School Road, in Phoenix.

Musicians from across genres can apply for the competition, with DUSK organizers selecting finalists to perform live. The winning act will earn a performance slot on one of the top three stages at this year’s DUSK Music Festival in Tucson. Applications are due Sept. 16, and selected artists must be available for both the Phoenix competition and the November festival.

The all-ages Phoenix battle opens its doors at 5 p.m., with music beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets start at $5 in advance, with proceeds helping purchase musical instruments for students at a Tucson high school. The competition is open to Phoenix-area and surrounding Arizona artists, with the application welcoming everything from rock, indie and alternative to hip-hop, electronic music, pop, folk, jazz and blues.
