Peoria Unified board to report possible violation of open meeting law involving fellow board member

The Peoria Unified School District governing board voted to self report a possible violation of the state's open meeting law involving a potential disclosure of confidential information by a board member.

The vote was split, with board members Jeff Tobey, Becky Proudfit and Melissa Ewing voting yes, and board members Heather Rooks and Janelle Bowles voting no.

While no one's name was on the agenda item and no one was accused of a violation, Rooks identified herself at the center of the allegation, but claimed no wrongdoing, and said she was being targeted by others on the board.
