Peoria Police investigation leads to 6 arrests in $1.4M fraud operation

The Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit completed a two-month investigation into an organized operation in which six people were arrested for $1.4 million in fraudulently purchased merchandise.

The investigation began after a Walmart delivery driver reported delivering numerous packages under different names to a Peoria residence, according to a news release.

Investigators identified a network allegedly using stolen credit card information from Walmart customer accounts to purchase merchandise through Walmart.com. The fraudulently purchased merchandise was then shipped to Vietnam in shipping containers, the release said.
