The Peoria Unified governing board will consider changes to the district's conflicts of interest policy, among other policies, at their public meeting 6 p.m. Oct. 22, 6330 W. Thunderbird Road, Glendale.
Officials say an update to the conflicts of interest policy will create more specific recommendations for internal controls and substantive requirements to board members and employees.
One change to the policy states that a board member’s or employee’s failure to recuse themselves from a contract, sale, purchase, or decision in which they have a conflict of interest could result in statutory violations, cancellation of district contracts, removal from office, or criminal penalties pursuant state law.
