The Coffee with a Cop event is a good way for residents to get to know their local police officers and talk about their community, but their most recent gathering Oct. 7 at House of Honey 9163 W. Union Hills Dr. Suite 116 highlighted something extra.
With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the event acted as a fundraiser for Angels on Patrol, a nonprofit that often provides support for many victims Peoria Police officers encounter.
The department was selling purple patches and T-shirts to raise awareness for domestic violence, and will continue to do so throughout October. All proceeds will be donated to Angels on Patrol.
