Barley & Smoke has its own frequently changing scratch-made menu, globally inspired by Chef Michael Mahalick’s travels to places including Spain, Argentina, and Eastern Europe, accompanied by a cocktail program emphasizing whiskey and other spirits.

Among the signature cocktails at Barley & Smoke, check out El Hefe Grande, made with Manchado Bacanora, a French orange-flavored triple sec liqueur, house-made limoncello, charred lemon juice, agave syrup, and black lava salt blend.

Inside Peoria Artisan Brewery, a pair of double doors offers the first hint that something unexpected might be hiding beyond the brewhouse.

The molding is a little different. So is the paint. Nothing screams for attention, but Chef Michael Mahalick says the subtle change “kind of gives you a little sense that maybe there’s more back there.”
