Chandler programs get more than $60,000 in Arts Commission grants

Posted

The Arizona Commission on the Arts has announced the awarding of almost $2.66 million in grants to Arizona nonprofit arts organizations, including ICAN, where the $5,000 that went to the “Enrichment Through Art” program was among more than $60,000 in grants to Chandler-area entities this year.

Some of the grants went to festivals and arts learning programs throughout the state, including over $300,000 to programs throughout the East Valley, according to a news release.

ICAN’s Enrichment Through Art is one of its positive youth development programs. That program receives $5,000 from the Commission on the Arts this year.

Other area groups receiving such grants this year include the Chandler Cultural Foundation ($16,000), Chandler Children’s Choir, Inc. and the Chandler Symphony Orchestra ($7,000 each),
ArtMind and LAKSHYA - Arizona Got Talent Dance Festival ($5,000 each), the Fine Arts Association of Arizona and Southwest Youth Ballet Theatre Inc. ($4,720 each), Saravedi and VanityCon ($2,500 each) and MAC & Company ($800).

Other East Valley municipalities that received large portions of the state grant funds include Mesa ($124,600 total), Tempe ($121,700) and Gilbert ($5,120).
