Construction is set to begin mid-May on a major natural gas pipeline project that will impact traffic in Litchfield Park for the remainder of the year.
Southwest Gas contractors will install a new natural gas line starting at the intersection of Indian School Road and Wigwam Boulevard, moving west toward Cotton Lane. Additional summer work is scheduled for Wigwam Boulevard, heading east from Indian School Road toward Litchfield Road.
The project is expected to take approximately seven months to complete. Residents and commuters should prepare for the following impacts:
Crews will be active from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
During work hours, eastbound traffic on Indian School Road and westbound traffic on Wigwam Boulevard will be restricted to a single lane.
Left turns will be restricted as necessary to accommodate pipe installation.
Access to all businesses and residences will be maintained throughout construction.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution when traveling through active work zones or to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
City officials confirmed that no loss of natural gas service is anticipated during the installation.
Separately, the city announced that ongoing crack seal maintenance, originally scheduled for completion by May 7, has experienced delays. That work is now expected to be finished by late May.
The pipeline installation and pavement maintenance are part of the city’s broader infrastructure program. For questions on these projects, residents can contact the Public Works office at 623-935-1066.
