Modern Grind has officially opened its second location at The Hilltop School for the Arts in Litchfield Park, 5356 N. Litchfield Road.
The shop is in the art gallery above the school’s theater and opened in partnership with the Agua Fria Union High School District.
It is Modern Grind’s first sit-down cafe, with a kitchen offering appetizers and light lunch and dinner options. Customers can view student and professional artwork, which is available for purchase through the school.
The partnership also gives students opportunities to gain experience as baristas and collaborate with Modern Grind on class projects. Owner Daphnie Kelly is a former elementary school teacher.
“I’m looking forward to pouring into these students and providing additional training and skills that can help them succeed after graduation,” Kelly stated.
The cafe is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, with extended hours on event nights.
