The Glendale Police Department, which has taken over the investigation into this past Friday night’s apparent security breach at Luke Air Force Base, has released the identity of the suspect.
GPD on Wednesday said Peoria resident Jacob Kilby, 30, is the man who was killed after allegedly driving through the South Gate security checkpoint at approximately 3:42 p.m. Friday, April 22, and failed to follow proper base entry protocols at Luke Air Force Base.
The base’s public affairs at the time reported members from the 56th Security Forces Squadron deployed an Automatic Vehicle Barrier, which stopped the moving vehicle. Responding medical personnel pronounced Kilby dead.
Kilby was not a member of the military.
Glendale police on Wednesday also reported no new information on the incident is available.
Luke Air Force Base is in the West Valley at 14185 Falcon S., and borders Glendale and Litchfield Park.
