Posted

Edgardo Dominguez-Cortez was sentenced Sept. 28 to nine years and three months in prison for his role in a Buckeye heroin trafficking case, the Arizona Attorney General’s office announced Oct. 12.

A jury found him guilty Aug. 13 of conspiracy, illegally conducting an enterprise and transportation of narcotics for sale. His prison terms will run concurrently.

Buckeye Police found a cereal box containing about 8,000 pills that tested positive for heroin during a Dec. 21, 2024, traffic stop, according to the office. Dominguez-Cortez was a passenger in the car with Jesus Beltran Bajorquez and Marcos Ochoa.

Investigators found a video of the pill-filled box and messages about participating in a drug deal on Dominguez-Cortez’s phone, the office stated. The other men’s phones contained similar conversations.

Bajorquez and Ochoa pleaded guilty and were sentenced to four years and eight years in prison, respectively.

Dominguez-Cortez was on felony probation in Santa Cruz County for a money laundering offense related to drug trafficking when the crimes occurred, the office stated.
