Suspect dead after apparent security breach at Luke Air Force Base

Authorities say man was not a military member

A man suspected of breaching a security checkpoint at Luke Air Force Base near Glendale is dead.

The base posted the incident to social media around 6:45 p.m. Friday night.

At approximately 3:42 p.m. Friday, April 22, the base’s public affairs reported, an unidentified male allegedly drove through the South Gate security checkpoint and failed to follow proper base entry protocols at Luke Air Force Base. Luke is located in the West Valley at 14185 Falcon S.

Members from the 56th Security Forces Squadron deployed an Automatic Vehicle Barrier, which stopped the moving vehicle, according to the report. Responding medical personnel pronounced the individual deceased.

Base officials confirmed the individual was not a military member.

The cause of the incident is under investigation. The Glendale Police Department is leading the investigation.
