Potato Days to be marked at Gilbert Regional Park

Gilbert Regional Park will be the site of the first-ever Arizona Potato Days on April 12-13 — two days devoted to everyone’s favorite tuber.

The free event will go from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Attendees can dig into a loaded baked potato (or fries, or tots) while classic country music is played.

The 72-foot Big Idaho Potato Truck will be there, and the festival hosts old-school potato sack races.

Other features and activities include a beer garden, a trading post of local artisans and crafters,  bubble blowing from horse troughs with 70 gallons of bubble solution and a spud slinger that launches foam potatoes at targets.
