Dogs and their owners are invited to the Gilbert Civic Center on Oct. 31 for the 28th annual BARKtoberfest, a community festival benefiting Friends for Life Animal Rescue.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gilbert Civic Center, 50 E. Civic Center Drive, and will feature a variety of pet-focused activities, adoption opportunities, vendor booths and family-friendly entertainment. Admission is free.
Attendees can bring their dogs to participate in lure and agility courses, splash pad activities and a variety of contests, including best costume, best trick and K-9 Idol howling competitions. Organizers also plan to offer a scavenger hunt, raffle prizes and demonstrations by the Gilbert Police Department K-9 Unit.
The festival is expected to include nearly 100 vendors, food trucks and opportunities to meet dogs available for adoption through Friends for Life Animal Rescue. Additional activities will include dog-themed games and interactive experiences for pets and owners.
BARKtoberfest is the rescue organization's largest annual fundraising event and has become a longtime East Valley tradition celebrating pets, animal rescue efforts and community involvement.
