Higley district freezes base salaries, sparks heated debate over budget

Base salaries from Higley Unified School District’s maintenance and operations budget will be frozen for fiscal year 2025-26 after the governing board gave unanimous approval to that preliminary budget at its March 4 meeting.

The budget discussion underscored the challenges facing the district amid declining enrollment and financial constraints after voters turned down the continuation of its 15% M&O override. The board also began steps to put another override question to the voters this fall.
