Gilbert Public Schools will continue using a national program to bring fathers into its schools, although governing board members disagreed over whether the district could accomplish the same goal on its own.
The Governing Board unanimously approved Dads of Great Students, known as WATCH D.O.G.S., as a sole-source vendor for fiscal year 2026-27 at its Oct. 27 meeting.
The approval followed a discussion about the value of the established program, the workload involved in operating it and opportunities to expand father participation to additional campuses.
