Higley Unified School District spent $9.3 million in voter-approved override funding during the past fiscal year, but officials face difficult decisions as that funding approaches elimination in 2027-28.
Chief Financial Officer Sharon Rushcamp presented the district's annual maintenance and operations override report to the Governing Board on Oct. 27, outlining how the money supported teacher compensation, classroom staffing, elementary programs and other educational services.
The report comes after voters rejected override renewals in both 2024 and 2025, triggering a three-year reduction in funding that will culminate in the loss of an estimated $14.17 million annually.
