Posted

Gilbert will kick off the holiday season Dec. 1 with its annual Water Tower Holiday Lighting at Water Tower Plaza.

The event runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and is presented by Felix Construction and APS.

The evening will feature live music, holiday activities and the official lighting of the town’s water tower.

Country singer-songwriter Christie Huff will perform from 6 to 6:45 p.m., followed by remarks from Mayor Scott Anderson and the lighting ceremony at 6:45 p.m. Huff will return for an encore performance from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Activities include arts and crafts, ornament decorating, watercolor painting by the Gilbert Visual Arts League, sledding with man-made snow, inflatables and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Guests can also vote in a snowman competition featuring entries from town departments.

Food vendors will offer holiday-themed treats such as hot cocoa and cookies. Participating vendors include The Corndog Company, Wiki-Licious, Eis Cafe and Cookie Karma. Payment options vary by vendor, and no ATMs will be available on site.

Free parking will be available in downtown Gilbert, but town officials recommend arriving early due to anticipated crowds.

More information is available on the town's website.
