Gilbert prepares for Day of Service to Seniors on Sept. 14

Posted

Volunteer opportunities are available to tackle indoor and outdoor household maintenance items needed by elderly or disabled residents in the Gilbert area Saturday, Sept. 14, for the town's Day of Service to Seniors.

The event runs from 7:30-11:30 a.m. starting from Page Commons, 170 N. Oak St., Gilbert.

Gilbert has partnered with Weekly Collective to assist town residents who, due to limited financial resources and/or physical limitations are needing assistance with some basic household services.

Projects can include assistance with light yardwork, removal of boxes and bags for donations, help with trash and recycling, or changing lightbulbs, air filters and change smoke detector batteries, and more.

Volunteers will meet at Page Commons and be assigned one or two Gilbert homes needing service.

Needed items can include gloves, tools, two-step ladder and lawn care items such as mowers, rakes, trimmers, etc.   Batteries and light bulbs will be provided.

If you know an elderly neighbor who could benefit, recommend they register for assistance.

For those needing help, use the form online to request assistance.
