Gilbert Town Council moves meeting times earlier to reduce late nights

Gilbert Town Council meetings will start earlier under changes intended to shorten lengthy meetings, reduce demands on town staff and make public participation more convenient.

The council voted 6-1 on Oct. 20 to approve changes to meeting procedures, including moving regular meetings from 6:30 to 6 p.m., scheduling study sessions on separate days and streamlining routine business.

Councilmember Bobbi Buchli cast the dissenting vote, objecting to the earlier start time because some residents may still be at work.
