Gilbert offices closing early on Christmas Eve, closed on Christmas

Posted

Gilbert municipal offices will be closed for Christmas, Dec. 25, and closing early Christmas Eve.

Municipal Buildings I and II will close at 2 p.m. on Dec. 24 for Christmas Eve.

However, curbside trash and recycling pickup for residents' blue and black cans will continue as scheduled, despite the Christmas holiday.

To ensure a smooth pickup service, residents should place their cans out by 5 a.m. with a minimum space of 2-4 feet from each other and five feet from objects like signs or vehicles.

There will be no bulk trash pickup for the week of Christmas . Residents can view their bulk trash schedule or learn more about the program by visiting gilbertaz.gov/BulkTrash.

Holiday recycling

The town offers six holiday recycling tips:

1. Most holiday wrapping paper, ribbons, and bows are not recyclable. Save and reuse for upcoming gifts and parties for the new year.

2. Do not forget reusable bags while out gift shopping.

3. Recycle broken holiday lights at Gilbert’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility: gilbertaz.gov/HHW

4. Find the nearest tree recycling location here: gilbertaz.gov/HolidayRecycling

5. Break down boxes and put them in the blue bin. Styrofoam and bubble wrap are not recyclable.

6. Plan for holiday meals by making guest lists and coordinating potlucks to avoid excess food.

Residents can report issues by submitting a Gilbert 311 request at gilbertaz.gov/311 for town-related services. Missed trash pickups, road hazards, maintenance issues in parks, and other non-emergency issues can be reported using Gilbert 311.
