Bike ride with Chandler mayor Saturday

Posted

Chandler residents are invited to join Mayor Kevin Hartke for a "fun and leisurely bike ride" Saturday.

The 17th annual Chandler Family Bike Ride takes place along the Paseo Trail. Starting and ending at Chandler’s Park & Ride lot, 2100 S. Hamilton St., is on the southwest corner of Germann and Hamilton streets in Tumbleweed Park, the theme this year is "neo"; wear the best, brightest cycling attire available.

The 7.8-mile ride is held in conjunction with Valley Bike Month. Check-in and activities begin at 7:30 a.m.

The bike ride will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. Riders, guided by the Chandler Police Bike Team, will bike along the Paseo Trail north to Tibshraeny Park, and back. Upon return, each cyclists can enjoy a free Kona Ice.

All ride participants will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last.

Pre-ride activities at the Park & Ride include bike and body decorating stations and free face painting. Stop by community partner vendor tables for information on bicycle safety, transit services and other topics.

All participants are asked to pre-register online.

While the city encourages creativity and fun, safety remains the top priority, participants are required to wear helmets and are asked to obey traffic laws and stay hydrated throughout the ride.

Anyone not able to attend the community event or would rather ride in the comfort of your own neighborhood or park, the city will also offer a virtual bike event from April 5 through April 13. Join family and friends and ride anytime during the weeklong event.

Virtual riders who pre-register will receive a free T-shirt, while supplies last.

The Chandler Family Bike Ride is presented by the city’s Transportation Policy Division, with support from various city departments and sponsors.
