Chandler making 'slightly used' recycled items available to publc

Posted

The City of Chandler operates a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility so residents can divert hazardous items, such as pesticides and household cleaning products, from the landfill.

Many of the items that are dropped off at this facility are new or only slightly used. The city is holding a household hazardous waste redistribution event to promote re-use of these items.

This event will be from 9-11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6, at the Recycling-Solid Waste Collection Center, 955 E. Queen Creek Road.

Items are free and made available only to Chandler residents who receive solid waste services or live in a Chandler multi-family unit. Residents must bring a photo ID and a copy of a utility bill showing their current Chandler address.

The quantity and type of items available vary greatly. All items are first-come, first-served and cannot be reserved. Customers are limited to 10 items and must complete a waiver form before taking the items.

Examples of items available at past events include automotive fluids, pesticides, cleaning products, camping propane tanks, spray paint, varnishes and stains.

Household hazardous waste items cannot be dropped off at this event. but residents can call Solid Waste Customer Service at 480-782-3510 to make an appointment to drop off items facility.
