Variance sought

Reduced setback approved for Apache Junction home

A variance to reduce the front setback for a planned manufactured home on property near the southwest corner of Hilton Road and Cactus Wren Street was recently approved at a special meeting of the Apache Junction Board of Adjustment and Appeals.

The board voted unanimously on March 20 to approve changing the front setback from 40 feet to 28 feet as requested by Judy Cook, the applicant.

The 0.62-acre property is zoned RS-GR — general rural low density single-family residence — just like surrounding land is. Required setbacks are 40 feet in the front, 20 feet on the side and 40 feet on the rear, Associate Planner Erika Hernandez said during the meeting.
